At the heart of our story is a shared commitment to walking alongside international neighbors in mutuality. In March of 2025, Kindred Exchange and Seed International merged to unite our expertise, resources, and vision for creating lasting, cross-cultural impact. This merger was born out of a shared desire to expand our reach and deepen our commitment to empowering communities through holistic business training and sustainable development.

september 2018
Seed International was founded by Morgan Benson and began offering business training in the Fondwa District of Haiti.
september 2020
Kindred Exchange was founded by Dr. Lauren Pinkston and Abby Littlefield with the goal of advocating for more ethical and authentic approaches to Christian mission work.
january 2021
Kindred Exchange launched its first business training cohort for Americans working in global contexts, equipping them to structure missional businesses and nonprofits for long-term, ethical impact.
may 2022
Kindred Exchange expanded its business training efforts to Jinja, Uganda, launching its first business cohort there.
january 2023
Due to violence and unrest in Haiti, many Haitians relocated to Knoxville, TN, Seed’s hometown. Seed’s programs grew to serve Haitians in the U.S., fostering knowledge-sharing and relationships between communities in Haiti and the U.S.
june 2023
Seed Coffee Co. opened in Knoxville, TN. The coffee shop was started to connect customers to the mission of Seed International and to tell the stories of coffee producers and ethical business partners around the globe.
march 2025
Kindred Exchange and Seed International officially merged into one organization. Together, we work alongside local and global partners to nurture deep, cross-cultural relationships and enrich communities through holistic money management and small business training.
